Rosario Aguilar
OWNER/DIRECTOR OF TRAINING
Rosario Aguilar
OWNER/DIRECTOR OF TRAINING
Rosario Rios Aguilar has been coaching CrossFit for 11 years, but her athletic career goes back much further. Her passion for athletics began at age 4, when she was growing up in a "jungle-like" town in Chiapas, Mexico. Rosario went on to be a member of the National Basketball Team, and she was crowned Mexico’s Tae Kwon Do National Champion.
In college, she participated in track and field, where she became conference champion in the high jump, 400 hurdles and heptathlon and still holds several school records. She was captain of her college basketball team and was named Most Valuable Player in 2009 where she was also ranked #1 in the State of California, and 9th in the country as a heptathlete.
She played professional basketball in Germany and Belgium and continued on as an instructor for USA Track and Field teaching Level 1 and Level 2 across the country. Rosario's knowledge of fitness, nutrition and training along with her ability to connect with people from all backgrounds is her greatest strength. She has been in the fitness and sports industry as a personal trainer, performance specialist and motivational coach/speaker for 20 years now.
Her expertise on athletic performance, power training, balance/postural correction, sports medicine, speed training, weightlifting, and martial arts make her one of the best in everything she works with.
Rosario has since worked as a strength and conditioning coach at various high schools in Southern California, Cal State University of Long Beach, and UCLA.
She also worked as a Track and Field Coach at Whittier College, specializing in multi-events and hurdles, taking her athletes to NCAA nationals.
She is currently the head strength and conditioning coach for UFC Brazilian fighters Mayra Bueno Silva and Gloria De Paula and is looking to help many others.
Rosario has spent 10 years as an Elite Athlete and Ambassador for the ASICS brand and corporation. She was in several ASICS training commercials, and facilitated input in future training developments within the brand and science base shoe design.
Rosario has high expectations for all her athletes as well as for herself and lives everyday day life with a purpose. She wants to radiate and transfer knowledge to her clients and athletes on how to become the best they can be as well as providing the tools needed to become more than average. Rosario's philosophy on training is train with high intensity, train smart, and have fun!
Coach RRA as her athletes call her, spends her time training, studying, learning all aspects of fitness and martial arts. She loves water sports and quality time with loved ones. You might find her eating bananas and a protein shake quite often.
"History is making a positive difference in someone's life each day I am alive," she says. "I believe that is my purpose in this world and a higher power has given me the strength, support and opportunities to continue seeking this gift. I am beyond grateful and forever a student.”

Jenna Stark
HEAD COACH/OWNER
Jenna Stark
HEAD COACH/OWNER
Coach Jenna has been CrossFitting for 9 years, and her specialty is getting people excited about training early on in their journey. "I find what makes that person get excited, and then they thrive on seeing progress in what their body is capable of!" she says. "It’s about making training fun in the process so that the gym seems more like one big game than a workout!"
Jenna was offered 13 college scholarships to play softball, and chose to play for Texas A&M, where her team was ranked 4th in the country. She came to CrossFit as a way to train during the softball off-season and kept it up after graduation. "Transitioning out of your sport to regular life can be really hard for a lot of elite athletes, so having a place to put my competitiveness and also get that team and locker room feel was really amazing to me," she says.

Jason Spalding
LEAD COACH
Jason Spalding
LEAD COACH
Coach Jason Spalding grew up north in a small town in Humboldt County. With the redwood trees as his back yard most of his days were spent outside exploring and hiking. In High school he both excelled in Track and Football however his passion was more free running and enjoying nature.
Moving down south to stay active he competed in not only fun run 5ks but also both Spartan and Tough Mudder races. There he was able to feel the sense of comradery on a team completing these events with friends. However, when he is not spending his time outside enjoying nature, you can find him enjoying a good horror movie or attempting to write one.
One graceful day Coach Jason found DRS and was introduced to CrossFit and once into his life there was never a look back and he has enjoyed every day.
His passion for fitness and being active lead him to have the opportunity at DRS to be a coach and role model for other members.
He became a coach to share his knowledge with others. “CrossFit is not only about working out and being fast/strong/tough, its about the community that it builds.” He says. “To be able to have daily conversations about things that will not only make us healthy but lengthen our lives so that we get the maximum potential, that is the reason I got into coaching.”

In 2011, James was looking for a complete health lifestyle change, embarking on his own weight loss journey. That's when he had found his passion for fitness. Losing a total of 75 pounds and 20% body fat within one year of strict dieting and exercise, he had a complete new outlook on life.
In 2015, James wanted to try out something new and that would challenge him even further. That's where he found his love for Crossfit at DRS Athletics. The coaches and members have changed his life in ways he never thought of. That's when James decided he wanted to take part in the Coaching Education Program. He wanted to help others reach their fitness goals and strive to be the best version of themselves they could be.
In the 5+ years he has been coaching, he continues to be inspired by the community and the passion that the athletes show as well as his fellow coaches. He sees transformations on a daily basis and continues to be passionate about helping others.
Outside of work and training James loves to travel and explore. He loves to attend shows and festivals, movies, theater and so much more.

Cheryl Burnett
COACH/KRAV MAGA MANAGER
Coach Cheryl became hooked on CrossFit in 2013 after beginning to do wods at home using the CF main site workouts. After moving to a CrossFit gym she fell in love with the sport of it, the variety, and the competitive aspect. The desire to be better was sparked. When she came to DRS in 2018 she realized the power of the community and how quality coaching helped her achieve her goals. She loves coaching at DRS, continuing the tradition established here of motivating and helping the members reach their own goals!

She also loves cooking and creating new recipes- this passion is what she brings to making Salvation, the muscle pain and skin healing salve.

For the next nine years she worked as a Weight Watchers Leader helping others reach their own health and lifestyle goals by facilitating dynamic group discussions on nutrition, overcoming emotional eating, and staying active. In 2018 she shifted to working with Coach Rosario on her nutrition and attributes that to helping her maintain her wait loss and make big gains :)

Kellie Niles
COACH
Kellie Niles
COACH
Coach Kellie comes from a dance background, but didn’t find her true passion until later on in life. After years of yo-yo dieting and endless hours on the treadmill she stepped into a CrossFit gym in 2012 and her life completely changed. ‘When I started CrossFit I found my true self and started loving my body for the amazing things that it could do and not just what it looked like. The ability that CrossFit gave people of all ages and fitness levels to try new things and later accomplish what they never thought they could do was absolutely inspiring.. She says. ‘My favorite part about CrossFit is the diverse community, meeting and hearing people’s stories of life and getting stronger not only physically but mentally every single day they stepped foot inside that door.
When Kellie isn’t at the gym, she absolutely loves having quality time with friends and family, going to the beach, cooking and “cheers-ing” life with a nice cold beverage.
“DRS has not only become my place of fitness, but my therapy in all walks of life. It is where I developed confidence I never thought I’d have”
Her favorite quote is “Get comfortable being uncomfortable. That is where you’ll grow.”
